code4lib conference

The code4lib Conference was born in a chatroom discussion in November 2005*. code4lib members quickly coalesced around the idea, and Jeremy Frumkin stepped forward to host it at Oregon State University. It was such a success that attendees immediately set about organizing the next one, which was held at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, hosted by the Georgia Public Library Service. In 2008 we were back in Oregon, this time Portland, again made possible by Mr. Frumkin and the rest of the crew at OSU.

code4lib 2008 Europe Venue Proposal

I'dd like to propose my
own school as venue for code4lib Europe 2008, the School of Industrial Studies and Management of the Oporto Polytechnic Institute, Vila do Conde, Portugal, but I only find information about applying for Code4Lib US.

Location: here and here

Nearest Airport:
http://www.ana.pt/portal/page/portal/ANA/AEROPORTO_PORTO/
Instalations: Photos from previous event http://www.linooliveira.com/eseig/fotos/ctdi2006/index.htm

Reason: The home for the LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGIES degree in Portugal
Reason: Central location to several Universities and Polytechnics with several levels of degrees (Masters, Doctoral, etc) in Information, Library and Computing Sciences: Oporto, Braga, Aveiro and Coimbra in Portugal and others in Galicia (Spain) (Highways to most of them and Public Transport to some of them >)
Reason: Very short distance from Oporto Airport with Public Transport
connections
Reason: Vila do Conde and Povoa de Varzim (neighbor city)
Reason: Beautifull Sunsets
Reason: Delicious food

How to proceed? Or is it to much away from central Europe to consider?

Best Regards

Julio Anjos
